With the hype over her dating The Weeknd, Selena Gomez pushed that to the back burner and shared the first trailer of her new upcoming TV series, 13 Reasons Why. Selena, who is named executive producer in the credits, shared on Instagram last night saying “A peek at a passion project I've been working on with @Netflix. @13ReasonsWhy arrives 3/31.”
The series is based off of the book which is also titled 13 Reasons Why tells the story of a high school girl named Hannah (Katherine Langford) who commits suicide — much to the confusion and disbelief of her classmates. I actually read this book many years ago, and the book is truly a life changing read. It will make you think about life so much differently and also think about the people around you, something we need in the world today.
13 Reasons Why made me pay more attention on how I act toward people and how people act around me. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a book that makes them think. The book has sold over One Million Copies and is a #1 NEW YORK TIMES and INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER. THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
To give you a little taste of what the series will or may consist of, here is a series of videos that were released when the book came out in 2007. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Each tape explains how they each played a role in her death — hence, 13 Reasons Why.
Selena Gomez shared a selfie explaining how she got involved with this series.
“I’m about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended,” Hannah says in eerie voice over to the trailer.
Netflix will premiere '13 Reasons Why' on March 31.
